Subject: Rowbotham, Rainow, Cheshire

There are references to Rowbotham's of Rainow on a 'Rainow' website that may be of interest. There is a link to Rainow in an old will from m line of the family.
The website mentions names of folk having association with Gin Clough Mill, initially a silk mill and then a cotton mill.
In 1825 the occupant was David Rowbotham, it then changed hands and was bought by Thomas Rowbotham who used it as a wheelwrights and timber merchant. Thomases sons William and Thomas continued the business intil the mill was sold in 1959.

Another snippet in a Wesleyan - Methodist Magazine of 1822 refers to to Samuel Rowbotham Silk Throwster of Macclesfield 1755-1821.

Its snippets like these that may assist others to fill in the details.
If you come across information that may help others, please take the time to place it on the notice board.

Thanks

Reference the David Rheubottom owner of the Gin Clough Mill in 1825.

I think I have found him on the 1851 census living at Swinton Lancashire. He is listed as a Family Manufacturer and aged 64 born Macclesfield. His wife is Mary Ann age 47, born Middlesex and the surname is shown as Reubottom ( yet another variation I have found)
Hope this helps with any research.>There are references to Rowbotham's of Rainow on a
