Subject: Cross Stitch (Sampler from Elizabeth Rowbotham 1617)

My mother received this sampler from a relative that has family ties to the royal family in England. She received this sampler years ago and was handed down through relatives over the years. We were wondering if this piece had any connection to your family. Apparently this Elizabeth Rowbotham was a maid to the royal family. On this sampler it has the alphabet in lower and upper case and a verse saying Remember thy creator in the days of thy youth. On the bottom of the sampler it has her name as Elizabeth Rowbotham 1617. If you have any information please reply.
Thanks,
Jon

Hi Jon

I have been researching my genealogy for some time and I am not sure as to how I came upon this site other than I do cross stitch myself and of course intrest in the Robotham family name. I am curious as to if you had any responses to your posting also I would really love to see a picture if you have one of the sampler.
I have hit dead ends with my Robotham/Roebotham/Robothan/Roebothan/Rowbotham/Rowbottom and all the other variances.

My Robotham line came from England, possibly via Ireland and settled in St Anthony, a fishing settlement in the Northern Penninsula of Newfoundland Canada in the mid 1800's.

Allison
