Author: John Rowbottom
Subject: Cordingley Rowbottom, Cheshire, 1815-1875

Hi.

I'm looking for details about Cordingley Rowbottom and his parents.
I know (partly courtesy of this wonderful site) that he was born 1815 Newton, Cheshire, married Marie Beswick in 1839, and died in 1875.

I think his parents were John Rowbottom and Jane Cordingley, who got married in mottram in Longdednale in 1808, but I haven't managed to prove this yet.

Is there anyone out there who has any more information about this line, (or who would like copies of the info I've found)?

Have only just discovered this site, henfce late reply to this.
My great-grandfather was Robert Allen Rowbottom, who married Amelia Phillips in Ancoats, Manchester, in 1865. His father's name was John, and he was a spinner. I think that Robert was born in Mottram in Longdendale in 1837 and that his mother's name was Ann. He became a railway engine fitter and moved to Crewe, presumably with his work, where he died in 1911. Their daughter, Elizabeth Ann was my grandmother. Amelia died in 1888. Does any of this fit in with what you have?
