Sierra ran through the forest, her feet and heart puonding in unision. Remembering her promise to Keso to stay nearby she angled her path to run nearly parallel to the densite. Her real desire was to run somewhere until she was too exhausted to go on.

What was making her feel this way? Her mind was in a state of ambivalence. She wanted to run away, but couldn't because she loved this pack and would miss it dearly. Of course she would stay, there was no doubt. This was silly, running through the woods at night leaving your friend all alone back at the densite. She and Keso needed to look after each other while the others were away. This ridiculousness of running from her mixed up emotions would not do.

Sierra turned to head back, the guilt from running off on Keso so suddenly growing in her stomach She would have to apologize. Sierra scolded herself. How would her mother have felt seeing her daughter acting like such a coward? Sierra sighed, the memory of her mother brought the wistful pain of the past.

Sierra paused and looked up through the tree branches to the moon. She closed her eyes and imagined hearing her mother's beautiful howl on the cool wind that brushed through her fur. She stood that way for a long moment. When she opened her eyes again, they were full of tears. She allowed them to linger a moment before shaking her head and the memory from it.

Sierra took a deep breath and headed off again to the densite, to apologize to Keso and face the conflicts within her.
