Keso whimpered and gave a crying yip. He nuzzled his father gently. The wolf lay on the rock, blood oozing from his mouth and nose. There was a bleeding wound in his right side. The once strong and proud wolf lay broken on a rock by a riverbank. He gave everything he had to save the life of his son. But then, as Elena licks his face and Keso nudges him, he stirs. Akira groans weakly and opens his eyes. "Elena...Keso..." he says through strangled breathing. He tries to rise, but can't. Some of his ribs were broken, and he was too tired. He lays back down on the rock, wincing in pain. He looks up through dizzy vision. "Elena...I can't..."
