"Such a pretty story you spin, wench," he retorted, fury unabated. "How I doubt your words. I doubt you could catch your meals if your life depended on it." He spits on the the floor by her feet. "That is what I think of the truth behind your words. So your family is dead. Perhaps even they were murdered. But you, you no nothing of hardships, nothing of the pain that could be suffered. Why, no matter what hard times you think have befallen you, there are dozens who have had it worse, and they did not have the benefit of wealth and aristocracy that you did. So your father's land was claimed by the French royalty--and you complain. What about those who did not have extensive estates or manors to begin with? What about those of us that must fight and work for our suppers 'till our hands bleed. And you have it bad?" He clenches his hands angrily on the hilt of his sword, refraining from grasping her and shaking her as he so wished he could do. "Do not try your petty troubles on me, Lady Aspasia," he finishes mockingly.
