Shane's jaw drops. Or rather, it would, if he hadn't clamped his mouth shut a moment later.
Empathy? In a royal family?! Either these people are mad, or the child's not exactly the product of a legal union...
Meeting Selneth's eyes, Shane sees that his cousin has something to say to him, and he carefully stands, pretending to be- not entirely steady on his feet; perhaps sick.
"Si'katha khelan!" he hisses under his breath in his native language. It translates to "damned medicines!" which has nothing to do with the reality, but it's an excuse - and Selneth's good enough to cover for him.
"Idiot!" Selneth says to him, hopping up and grabbing his shoulders, acting as a steadying influence. "You forgot to drink that tea, didn't you?"
"Figured it was better to-" he coughs for effect- "get sick later than have to drink it and feel fuzzy and lightheaded and slightly dizzy," he answers.
Turning his attention from Shane, Selneth states to the two women, "Excuse me while I drag this idiot off to his room, give him the medicine he can't live without but refuses to take, and then apply a board to his head until the fact sinks in."
