MUSIC month continued in Brisbane last night with Seattle rockers Pearl Jam storming the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

While lead singer Eddie Vedder warmed his vocal cords up at a pre-show sound check, guitarist Stone Gossard reflected on the Democrats' victory in the US, fatherhood and some of the best concert reviews the band has had in years.

"We're playing better than ever before," said Gossard, who kickstarted Pearl Jam 15 years ago when he sent a demo tape to San Diego petrol pump attendant Eddie Vedder.

"We've learned how to play together.

"We've found ways to take the band to another level. It's an exciting time. And we're all still friends. It's a miracle."

As Vedder broke into 2002's Love Boat Captain, a song written in tribute to the nine fans crushed to death during a Pearl Jam show in Denmark in 2000, Gossard spoke of the peace fatherhood had brought the band's long-fiery frontman.

"Fatherhood is a blessing for him," he said.

"It's been a blessing for us all. (Lead guitarist) Mike McCready and I both have wives who are pregnant right now.

"(Drummer) Matt Cameron has two kids. The kids are getting around. It's funny, because we're all still kids ourselves. It's a new era, that's for sure."

Pearl Jam play the Brisbane Entertainment Centre again tonight. In a bid to avoid traffic chaos, the venue is trialling a Boondall-to-City express bus service, departing the centre at 11.15pm and stopping at Toombul, Fortitude Valley and Brisbane City.
