Subject: Selection Enquiry

Dear Sir,

I am currently practicing as an advocate with a reputed law firm in New Delhi, India. I graduated with an L.L.B. (hons) from Cardiff University, Wales in 2004 and was a member of the Cardiff-Glamorgan Centre of Cricketing Excellence from 2001 - 2004.

I played for Dulwich Cricket Club last season in the Surrey Championship (1st Division), was the leading wicket taker and helped them gain promotion to the premier division. Owing to a good cricketing opportunity that came locally, I did not travel to the UK for this season.

Besides playing for St Fagans Cricket Club in the South Wales Premier
Division, I was also a regular member of the Cardiff University
cricket team. I was also selected to play for Glamorgan 2nd XI in the
summer of 2002. I am an off-spinner batsman and learnt spin-bowling under the tutelage of former India captain, Mr Bishen Singh Bedi.

I was a regular member of my School team and, during that period, worked on my game at the National Stadium, New Delhi, under the auspices of the Sports Authority of India. I was also selected to Bishen Bedi’s India Under-19 team that toured the UK in 1997 and played matches against various clubs and minor counties.

I was the captain of my college cricket team at Delhi University in
2000-2001 and led the team to the knockout phase of the inter-university tournament for the first time in its history. Whilst pursuing my first degree in Economics, I played regularly for Essex Farms Cricket Club in the A1 Division, the premier division, of the Delhi and District Cricket Association League.

I wish to be considered for selection to your esteemed cricket club and
would be delighted if given an opportunity of a trial.

I would appreciate an early response to the above so that I can plan my
cricket schedule for next season.
