Adam, Rakhesh, N Khan, etc. hate Sharon so much for "his" attrocities. What is this all about. Following are the beginning excerpts of an article I will attach. It's slightly biased against Sharon, so read it with Rose colored glasses...

1- September 1970-August 1971: The PLO is expelled from Jordan and moves its bases, camps and cadres to Lebanon. Initially, they are based in the Palestinian refugee camps in the South, but soon the PLO presence reaches the whole country via the refugee camps, including the 3 main refugee camps in the capital Beirut, Bourj El-Barajneh, Tel-El-Zaater, Sabra and Shatila. (Morris, 499)

2- August 1975, Beirut: The Lebanese Civil War erupts after a few bloody preludes. The War begins with two bloody incidents involving the PLO and the Phalangists. The PLO, which is the second most powerful armed entity after the Lebanese Army, sides with the Leftist-Moslem alliance against the Maronite Christian coalition of militias, the largest and oldest being the Phalangists. The PLO-backed alliance soon has the upper hand.

3- September 1975, Paris: Via a Mossad Station in Paris, Danny Chamoun, son of former president and leader of the Tigers Militia approaches the Israeli Government for assistance. PM Yitzhak Rabin declines direct intervention, but sends light arms to the Phalangists. (Black+ Morris, 365)

Kev, it won't wash. No one could possibly have committed atrocities anywhere in the world besides Isreal and the US, it just won't fly. (Sharon did his fair share of war crimes, no doubt about it in my mind.)

However, everyone else conveniently forgots the PLO's atrocities. I would like to see explained how the people at PNS actually acknowledge that Arafat is not an angel, and after managing to get the PLO kicked out of Jordan, what possible excuse they could have for basically starting the Lebanese civil war. I am having a hard time trying to pin that one on Sharon. At least when Sharon committed his war crimes, ISREAL WAS AT WAR. Arafat and his mercenaries were busy trying to internal strife for the governments of "legitimate" countries. The PLO was nothing but a bunch of wandering foreign killers.
