After a week of searching for a particular box of CDs to absolutely no avail, it suddenly hit me with striking clarity what I had done with them. I loaned them to Jerry. Right before he died.

No, silly. This was not software pirating. I needed off-site back-ups.

I had loaned some to my brother. His wife then loaned it to a friend of hers. The friend denys having it. Software gone.

Sometimes being nice just doesn't pay.
