Subject: Wisdom and Understanding

In that meloncholy spring morning, Crimson taught her son many things. She taught him how to recognise the scent of the wombat and all the other animals of the bush. She told him the benefit of being respectful to all animals. They, in time, could help him in times of grave danger.

She taught him how to create an image, a picture, of a horse when sniffing their spoor, studying their tracks. Which were stallions...Which were mares. Which should be avoided at all costs.

They stood, heads thrown to the sky, nostrils dilating excitedly as they listened to the song of the wind. Pearl must know how to read and understand the signs that Nature shows the world. It was then that the two learnt of the death of the silver stallion, Tiarri. The bubbling streams sang of a new King, the grey steed Imotep. The very name sent a shudder down their spines.

With a flick of their silver tails, fronds of silver mist swallowed them up. No trace of them told any of their whereabouts. The kept downwind, travelling through an icy stream. Their scents were lost.

Pearl, the colt of Dawn in a Stormy Sky, saw and heard all. Understanding. Knowing.
