Torrent squeals with pleasure, chasing Fate through the ghostly snowgums. The wind rushes through her mane and tail and she shivers with excitement. She looks at him for a moment, sadness sweeping into her eyes. Maybe he will remember her when he is older. She will never forget him. She lips at his midnight mane tenderly. Then, she dips her head in acknowledgement to Faye and disappears, weaving through the snowgums.

A lone sunbeam.

Her desolate cry is heard high above them as she stands on a ridge, the wind buffeting her.
