Hope someone here can help me. I am trying to find a good recipe for homemade glycerine/ginger suppositories. The old Humphries ginger suppositories are no longer availible. For those of you that don't remember them, they were about two inches long, three-quarters of an inch in diameter, and came wrapped in gold foil.

It was an incredible experience to receive one of these, I am told. Within two or three minutes of insertion, the ginger caused a terrible burning sensation. The glycerine then caused you to feel an urgent need to evacuate, like a bad case of the "runs," but the burning of the ginger made it almost impossible to expel anything. This condition would last for half an hour or so, at which point you wouuld have a violent, uncontrolable BM.

Surely someone out there has a recipe for producing a reasonable substitute for the late, lamented Humphries ginger suppositories. If so, could you please share it with the group?
