That's fine. Do it on whatever topic is comfortable for you.
But I -do- think you should expand your horizons somewhat. Just sticking to the board that your friend is on limits you drastically..and you won't get better at rpg writing if you don't have a good look around. A suggestion would be to try Crossroads..that is a very open game.. and anyone can play pretty much any character they like there. You'll meet other characters of various types and with various skills. I'm am certain you are intelligent enough to learn about the other games without your friend's help..
