Actually players don't need to even download the module. Just the necessary hakpacks. Only the host needs to have the module. If I understand it correctly, the hakpak installation consists of putting the files into 1 directory. Actually putting it to work will have to be done by the DMs. So there's very little actual work for the players to do.

Portraits and such won't be a big problem. If you don't have the know-how on how to make one, I'm sure there's still plenty of options. I gathered some 100 portraits already, and there are sites that have all the portraits from BGI/BGII/Expansion packs/Icewind Dale up for download. All those combined should be enough.
