Subject: Something I've been working on for a while (mission statement of sorts)

Just so everyone knows, I'd like to explain some of my thinking on how I am running this campaign. First, if you're familiar with the way I ran QVI, this probably won't be very new information for you.

First, I don't play favorites. If you feel like being involved, I will definitely appreciate it. I encourage you, as a matter of fact to be contribute as much as you are able. I may not include everything you contribute for one reason or other but I'll at least try and explain why I feel something won't work and maybe add some ideas on how to improve your input. That said, some of you are more involved than others--that still does not mean that I will give any preferential treatment to those individuals who are more visible than others. Some player characters, I will find more interesting, better thought-out, or even better played--I don't think that can be helped--but I will give you the freedom to play your best within the limits of the campaign and your abilities. In the end, I make an effort to foster an atmosphere where people can be themselves, contribute what they can and have fun.

As with QVI, the buck stops with me. When QVI was first being established we had plenty of Chiefs and few Indians; we had a couple of rather serious problems in the beginning. That's when I decided to become absolute head of the guild. I was involved in almost every aspect of the guild and made final decisions almost every day (most of them, I would guess, were rather unwelcome to a number of players). For many players, my style really didn't work for them and they moved on; I won't try to please anyone if it compromises my values. Certainly some of you I've known much longer, some of you I've had some issues with, but I will try to be fair and reasonable. I will make every effort to understand your requests, ideas or suggestions, though. Usually, we can come to a satisfying agreement if they are presented in a mature manner. In the end though, I am the boss, the dictator, the law-giver concerning all things of this campaign (unless I'm inconsistent, unclear or hadn't had sufficient time to think things through--you're quite welcome to challenge me on these thing; I may be der Führer but I am human after all. *grins*).

I, though, understand the need for help, and will definitely be asking you all for such support as you can render from time to time. I understand I cannot do this alone, not without sufficient back-up work from you: one of the chief lessons I learned from my experience with QVI. In that vein, I have asked a couple of people to be co-DMs. They will help me come up with and run the various plots that will be the back-bone of the campaign. They are just players like everyone else, but they have taken on a bit more responsibility, work and behind-the-scenes information. Everyone is encouraged to play "co-dm" from time to time, either in playing a character which has specific plot implications or to run a plot that you yourself has come up with.

Finally, my mission is to create an atmosphere where everyone has fun. This isn't a place to stoke the fires of ego; we're all part of team dedicated to making things as enjoyable as possible.
