Dear Mother and Father,
I am writing this letter to you from Bridalveil, where you know I have been at for the past week. If only you could have seen the horrors I have seen. I can not even remember it all clearly anymore. It all started when Constable Robert Hughes, me, a beautiful elf named Alerial, an elf mage named Thalan, and a Knight of Calamus named Feyr went into the crypts to invistage something. There were others, but I can not recall their names. We found many dead bodies in a large cavern complex below the crypts, chewed and mangled by lizardmen the dwarves call Splugs. We had to fight many of those things and several times we became seriously wouned, but the elf priestes Alerial healed our wounds. We kept on going forward, lost and hungry, led by Thalan who heard a female voice in his head. We found a shrine dedicated to Maelwar, but did not know it at the time. With a key we unlocked a strange door and unknowingly release a great evil upon Bridalveil. We fled out of the caves back to town. We lost Thalan...
When we arrived back in town we locked Thalan up. Strange mists started to enshroud the land, and undead stirred from their graves to attack us and the town. We learned from some gypsies that we needed to go back to the source of the evil, the shrine. On the way back we lost more companions to undead abonimations but eventually found our way to a cave beyond the shrine. There was Thalan. We slayed him and found out he was corrupted and was the cause of the mists.
A great earthquake stared and Robert and I became
seperated from our remaining companions. We eventually found two dwarves who lived in the dwarven hall built into the caves by the town. It seemed there was a great battle between the dwarves and the Splugs, and those two were the only dwarves to survive. We ran into the Great Evil on our way out, the demon woman. She escaped yet again. We eventually made our way back out of the caves and found out that our seperated companions did as well.
Robert and I discussed with the dwarves on how to come up with a solution to collapse the only remaining cave exit, but could not think of any that just us four could do. We visited the mayor to ask about the caves, but he said to go to the library. He was rude though, but understandably slow given the recent troubles. For the second time I felt the prescence of "her," the demon, outside the mayor's house. I hope she was not somewhere in the town. We made our way to the library and found there might be a way to trap her in a holy cave blessed by gnomish priests towards Adrahil.
That is what has happened since I have been here, my dear parents. Adrahil has watched over me and I am still safe. I hope everything is going well in Duath, and the mansion.
With Love,
Your son
