Notes on merchants -- Faalor, a NWN Campaign setting

There are roughly 20 merchants (with some being added later, including a Gundar merchant) in the campaign. Each merchant has his/her own personality, the majority will do buisness only with certain races (elves and half-orcs of course on the short list of rejects, except where logical). Others will only do buisness if you have a certain skill (one won't work unless you intimidate them and other if you make a bluff role). Others still won't work unless you have a certain item, like a House badge or coupon of some kind. And finally, some are Temple merchants who won't work unless they can detect the aura of a specific god/goddess on your character.

There's a smattering of high end magic items on most of the merchants, so you'll have to save up if you hope to buy one. Also, bandages, potions and other healing items will be in short supply and/or be very expensive. I do have one merchant who will sell them fairly inexpensively and at bulk, but you'll have to hunt for "it".
