Subject: Don't need convincing..

I agree there SHOULD be limits on heads and valves, BUT there are tracks that run Vortec ,Double hump, 041 heads, etc. If we don't allow them to run them, they would have to buy new heads to be able to race with us. This race MUST include as many tracks as possible. No one is gonna buy heads for one race. With everyone using the same small carb, the gear rule and the same tires, the "big head" guys aren't going to have such a big advantage. It ain't a "problem" It's a "Challange"... .Perhaps If this effort shows a big following,we can put some reasonable restraints on these items.

By the way, some of the rules we have been reviewing are difficult or impossible to enterpret or enforce.
Such as...
No excessive "cutting" of the head.... How much is excessive. Do you want to make that decision or do you want the tech inspector to make that determination ?
Milling only for "repair"... HUH ? I can just hear it now...."Yea Mine was REALLY warped sir, I had to cut .120just to clean 'em up"
No excesive angle milling... 3 degrees.. 15 degrees ??

No one can tell me how to determine how much has been taken off a Chevy head. There can be severe differences in the measurements of chevrolet cylinder heads taken off the same engine! I have done It and found no common point to measure from as a reference.Where do you measure from ? The rocker stud pedestals ? maybe the valve cover mounting surface.. ?? No body can be certain. CC'ing is the proper way to set up an engine but Personally, I don't want to do this as part of a tech inspection. I don't think anyone wants to pull their heads and have them CC'd at the track either.
Some things sound "good" to limit, but think about how you are going to check for compliance.

As things stand now, we have five tracks showing interest. We would like that to be 15. By imposeing more restrictions, we might have two or three !!

It might be a good idea to mention that,Just because something is "legal" doesn't mean thats the way to go...
As someone wiser than me said,"you don't have to know anything to have an opinion"
If this race is run on a 3/8 mile or smaller, I predict that a "small" engine will win. Just my opinion.
