You can buy 4X8 sheets from an industrial "plastics" supplier, but they are more expensive and you waste a lot. The race shops stock a smaller piece that leaves less waste and you aren't paying for what you don't need. Price should be around the fifty buck area.You will find lexan to be MUCH lighter allowing you to keep weight low on the car.Maybe a bit more trouble to maintain,my experience has been that it should last about two seasons if treated with respect.Make sure it's Lexan(a brand name ) or equivilant.There are some cheap plastic look alikes that don't offer the shatter resistance. That's why I would recommend going to a race car fab shop.
