I Will try to address your concerns, one at a time.....Remember we are going to have to compromise to bring in the more "stock" guys.
First
HEADERS...
We are giving you a practicaly UNLIMITED engine !We feel this is a very small penalty.. Remember No CAM rule ! NO HEAD rule other than Iron....No BORE rule... No COMPRESSION rule.and No CUBIC INCH rule , other than "small block".JEEZE ! You could go back to corvette 2 1/2 inch center dump cast iron with a two into one exhaust, avoid the weight penalty, and surprise yourself with how well your engine runs.
GEARS....
See above.. remember you are going to be runnung against much more limited engines and transmissions. This is a small and cheap compromise to make. If you have a four speed, along with the "stock" ratios available up to the 4:11 you have a lot more gear ratios than the guys with two or three speeds and/or automatics.
INTAKE...
True, many tracks are running the aluminum intake. They cost a little less than $200.00 and have a reduced weight advantage. Some tracks are still limited to the stock manifolds. They would have this added expense to upgrade if they want to,(takeing weight off the fronts of these cars is very important to getting an acceptable front to rear bias) they also have other internal engine limits that your car doesn't. A stock cast iron manifold is either cheap or free.A very small price to pay to help compromise with the more limited guys.
FUEL CELL...
A "poly" fuel cell with foam is fine, If placed in to a metal box. Perhaps the rules need to be more detailed.I have people that think these cars don't need cells at all. (They haven't seen the scars I have.)A galvanized sheet metal box can be cheaply fabricated to fit an existing cell.I had one folded up at a sheet metal shop for about $30.00. Some cell mfgs. have boxes available that fit their products, but they do cost more.
See ya at the races,
fsstek
