>In 1977 BILLBOARD had their first BILLBOARD award show special, and for some reason weren't giving AT40 the info for the year ender in the time they wanted it or something, so AT40 tabulated their own list, It would have been interesting to year them countdown the BILLBOARD TOP 100 that year because "Devil's Gun" by C.J. & Co. was #100, this song only hit #36, and spent two weeks in the top 40, but thanks to it's up and down 29 week chart run it amassed enough points to hit #100. In 1978 they went back to BILLBOARD.

BILLBOARD started having some strict cut-off periods that AT40 didn't like, and this was part of the reason they did their own as well (for awhile), I didn't blame them sometimes, for instance in 1976 and 1977, songs like "Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgereld" , and "Rockin' Me" never made a yearednder.

Here's a list of the '70's through 1994, and which chart was used:

-BILLBOARD
-BILLBOARD
-AT40
-AT40
-BILLBOARD
-BILLBOARD
-BILLBOARD
-AT 40
-BILLBOARD
-BILLBOARD
-AT 40
-AT 40
-AT 40
-AT 40
-AT 40
-AT 40
-BILLBOARD
-BILLBOARD
-BILLBOARD
-BILLBOARD
-AT 40
-AT 40
-AT 40
-AT 40
-AT 40

I might be wrong on 1974 and 1985, just going on memory.
