Subject: Network Commercials On American Top 40 Shows

As most of us know, "American Top 40" contained network commercials from its first broadcast until September 25, 1971, during its initial "barter" period. Then, following the ABC Radio Network's acquisition of Watermark in early 1982, the show was once again distributed to radio stations in the United States via barter and with network commercials. I understand this practice continues to this very day.

I am trying to pinpoint exactly when the show resumed including commercials during its second "barter" period. I believe Rob advised me that ABC acquired Watermark in January 1982. However, I understand that none of the February 1982 shows contained any network commercials, and that the same is likely for the March 1982 shows. I have a copy of the April 10, 1982 show, which contains network commercials, and I believe someone mentioned that the April 3, 1982 show also contains network commercials. Thus, if anyone can shed some light on this topic, I would be most appreciative.
