Below is Bruce Kelly (PD of 80's on 8)version of the controversy...posted on Clubxm.com.

Premiere Radio's owns the broadcast rights to those shows, but
they don't own the CHART rights....that's Billboard Mag.

Premiere's deal with BB runs out Feb. 12th and they have no intention of
renewing since they have cancelled distribution to terrrestrial radio.

I was informed of this two weeks ago by Premiere AFTER inquiring
about Casey shows on the 70's channel.

The BB rights cost over 20K.

I ran this poll to provide ammo for me to approach my VP's for the $$$$$.

Over 4000 80's fans responded with calls and mail.

The no votes won.

My next angle is to work the XM sales dept to find a sponsor for BOTH the 70's and 80's channel. that way I can nego the costs into the sponsorship pkg. If that works out, Casey could return for a WEEKEND play on both channels.

Believe me, this has been just as much of a shock to ME as it is for you.

I worked for months to get the ORIGINAL 4 HOUR SHOWS.....not the stinky edited ones you hear on terrestrial.

On top of that the digital ingestion process is long and quite detailed....
over 200 full shows.....1600 segments....were digitized. Don't think its just
a matter of punching a button and it magically appears.

The AT - 40 shows have created the BIGGEST response ever for any feature on ANY XM channel.....and that's BEFORE the poll.

Why didn't I explain this on the air ???? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
BORING !!!!!!!!!!!

The best part of the huge response is I am able to have a better overview of your attitude on a myriad of subjects concerning the 80's channel. And I hope you keep the feedback coming.

Most of us uprooted families and left friends and hometowns behind to participate in this unique journey. We strive every day of the week to push ourselves and each other to the limit to bring you the best listening experience possible. Our hearts and souls are poured into these channels.
We don't take any of this lightly and take nothing for granted.

I hope this clears up any misconceptions or rumors."
