There are several AT40 shows in my collection that do that:

July 5, 1975 (rebroadcast of the first AT40 show)
August 15, 1970
August 29, 1970
October 17, 1970
June 29, 1974

I have a few others that used no intro at all. It sounds a lot better when the drum roll was used to introduce the No. 1 song.
