I think AT40 looked at it this way. The all the other songs were two distinct songs that had been recorded or written seperately. The 5th Dimension combined "Aquarius" and "The Flesh Failures (Let the Sunshine In)" into their song although the two songs are seperate on the Hair cast album. Stars On 45 medley are all snippets of all songs that were distinct. Will To Power's medley was of 2 songs that had nothing in common until they made a medley of it.

However Paul and Linda McCartney's, although two distinct songs, never have appeared seperately. Neither were a song by itself in its own right. I'm not aware of any artist doing "Uncle Albert" by itself, although technically I suppose it could be done. Perhaps that is why AT40 chose to exclude it.

I was also thinking on how some songs are now so intwined into a medley that some people may not realized they were conceived as seperate songs at the time. The 5th Dimension song is a case in point as well as the Morris Stoloff hit. But you also have the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper/With a Little Help From My Friends", Queen's "We Are the Champions/We Will Rock You", Jackson Browne's "The Load-Out/Stay" and the much covered "Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody". I am sure there are others :)

Christopher
