Subject: Jermaine Stewart

As I was reading Chris's comments about not knowing Eddie Rabbit had passed, I went searching to see if there were sites for deceased musicians, and I found one: www.elvispelvis.com which is a great site.

Anyway, I was looking at the list of musicians who had died from AIDS (or at least complications of) and the name of Jermaine Stewart appeared. This came as a shock to me because 1)I had no idea Stewart died 2) and that he died from AIDS.

I know there are many way to contract AIDS, however I find it extremeley ironic that the man who sang, "We Don't Have to Take our Clothes Off", died of AIDS. The song was a perfect fit for the AIDS awareness campaigns of the 1980's, and I remebered that in his fifteen minutes of fame, he made many different comments about the message of the song.

Talk about depressing. Musicians all over the world are known for their permiscuous lifestyles, but only a handful have ever died from AIDS. One of those, unfortunatly, was the man who told us that we didn't have to take our clothes off to have a good time.

Once again, I don't know how he contracted the disease. But no matter how he contracted it, its ironic he died from it! Long live the song, however, and his other top 40 hit, "Say It Again".
