well...these days, that would be loaded into the automation system. I hope you realize that the days of jocks and board ops running the show manually are numbered, if not gone already.
depending on the control room, you will not necessarily see a CD player in MCR. you've got a computer screen, maybe keyboard mouse, phone hybrid interface, console, and that's it. maybe a CD for backups, but everything else will be loaded onto the HD. I know a few stations that run shows totally in their automation system, the last live jock hits the auto button, and walks away, having the PC run everything.
while the 4 hour countdown may not necessarily be loaded onto the system (again depends on the station!) I can see america's biggest hits being that way. it's a short form daily, so wouldn't take much to do. so obviously, unless someone in the production dept didn't load the show for the next week into the automation system or if the station is still in the analog domain,it's likely already to go. they might "cart" the feature to make it easier for play and you don't run the wrong show...but if it's a automation system, someone in the production dept (which usually takes care of all syndicated features as well as local commericals and promo production!) would do the shows ahead of time. so you could possibly grab the CD's to take home.
