I'd cut it off there if I was board oping and running late too....depending on how much time you'd save...credits are a luxury...I'm a firm believer in running them if you have the time, but if your spotload makes the show run over, dump em.

as i'm in canada, and am familiar with edits up here to some degree, because I used to tape the satellite feeds and dealt with the people responsible directly, let me explain...

CT40 got cut in the early 90's because it was a cash deal with Westwood One, and unlike watermark, there was no international version produced. so, a producer in toronto, working at seltech satellite systems, who was the canadian distributor for WWONE, would dub the vinyl discs to reel tape, and cut all the spots and opening and closing commerical billboards. sometimes these cuts were sloppy, pretty obvious, but as it's only gonna run once or twice, it was no real big deal, and personally it can be a pain in the butt literally taking a razor blade and cutting and resplicing the tape together (which is a lost art these days with computer editing!)

usually all the seltech producer would cut on the opening and closing was the billboard for the US sponsor, everything else would go through, including the entire theme.

also of note, depending on the canadian rep, as they have bought the rights, they can easily repackage shows to brand it with their logo, name etc. soundsource has done this on the past, often eliminating american credits entirely. the desilva radio network does this for mg kelly's american hit list. they rep it, they can redo the credits to brand the show to them. TV shows are also dealt with that way up here, depending on the show. you might have shows from 3 different US networks all on one network/TV station up here.

for the station editing the closing credits, I can only speculate that they are editing to make the closer generic enough for some purpose. maybe they are running it on the hard drive, and it's a pain in the butt to rip that every week...who knows, but if it sounds like you could run it every week, they made them generic for some purpose.
