>>Toto - a misunderstood group. Rob reports in “This day
>>in AT40 history” that Toto was named for Dorothy’s dog
>>in the W of Oz as stated in the 4-23-88 show.

>>HOWEVER –

One of my favorite American bands...Toto accumulated 10 top 40 hits from 1979 thru 1988 including 4 top tens. For those who may not know, Toto had retained a strong presence in Asia & Europe with NO support in the USA, Their 1999 album "Mindfields" was excellent (although finally released domestically many months after it's internat'l release) & ranks right behind 1982's 6x Grammy winning 'IV' & their 1978 debut as my favorite. If you ever get a chance to see them play live, DO IT! I saw them in a rare East coast (Atlantic City) visit nearly 3 years ago & it was unbelievable. They are playing some selected shows in the Midwest this Summer before their Fall tours kicks overseas in October. Finally, they have a new album of covers due out later this year that includes remakes by Steely Dan, Bob Marley, The Beatles, Elton John, Cream & Stevie Wonder! Check them out www.toto99.com

>>1) “Toto” the group was NOT named for the dog.
>>2) “99" was NOT a song about Barbara Feldman
>>3) “Rosanna” was NOT about Steve Porcaro's girlfriend,
>>actress Rosanna Arquette

>>mentioned these 3 items. Obviously it was from 1979
