Subject: Stars on 45: Good Choice

Good call on "Stars on 45". I remember when I first got Fred Bronson's book of Number 1 hits,(I don't remember the edition but it ended with "Together Forever" as the last #1), that I had no idea what Stars on 45 was. I started listening to the countdown in July of 1982, but still I had heard every number 1 song except for that and for some strange reason, "Woman In Love" by Barbra Sresiand. I wouldn't hear Stars" for the first time until Shadoe did his special over the labor day weekend of 1989 on the milestones of the eighties. I couldn't believe that it hit number one, especially looking at the music at the time (i.e. In the top 10 the week it went number one included Smokey Robinson, Air Supply, and Neil Diamond).

Give the song props, however. It did spawn off a wave of medley hits ranging from the Beach Boys to the Classics. I saw it on a compilation, but it was made I believe in the Netherlands. Footnote: the picture that they use for the representiation of the Stars in Bronson's book really scares me!
