The black stallion tended to his mare carefully the days she was injured. He had not meant to be so hard on her and he felt like an aweful brute most all of the time she had been injured. He stayed at her side 24/7 until she was healed enough to begin to run around again and even then she was becoming pregnant enough that he always stayed within seeing distance of her incase a predator should try to take advantage of her womanly situation. As her belly swelled so did his excitement. Soon he would have a son. Or perhaps a daughter. But what he really yearned for was a son. A large black colt with agression to carry on the gene. Typical guy thing, you know. Anyways the months dragged on and finally his fae was in her last stages of pregnancy. Her belly swelled so great he felt sorry for her and her small frame carrying his large foal. But he was very proud of his petite maiden and way she carried it so valiently and with little complaining at all. Finally the day came when she grew restless. Knowing she would want her time alone he stayed at a distance and gave her the day to conceive. Some hours later he returned somewhat hesitantly, for he did not want to disturb her if she was not yet finished, but also eagerly in that he was very impatient to see his new son or daughter and to make sure his wife was ok. He approached the willowed depression in the field quietly so not to disturb the maiden. But nosing his way through the hanging vines he was surprised to find not one mare but 2 awaiting him and not one new foal but 2 as well! Stepping quietly through the branches he cleared his throat so not to startle them too much and spoke,

"Good afternoon ladies." Walking over to NightShade his nuzzled her now not so large belly, "How are you doing m'lady." He gasped when his eyes fell upon his newborn colt. "He's so beautiful! Whatever shall we name him?" Large and beast-like as the brute was he was at a soft spot for the moment looking at the newborn babe laying helplessly on the earth with his mom. He suddenly glanced up at the other mare.

"Good after noon m'lady. Please excuse my lack of manners. I am Carson and it is a pleasure to meet you." He felt it strange that the mare had beat him to his own wife and son but it was the way of mares. They often knew eachother in ways stallions would never learn to.

His mind felt muddled but was overflowing with happiness. He had a new son who could pass on his genes. His lady seemed to be perfectly alright which would mean mating season was soon on it's way and you know how he loved that! And he now had a new mare and her daughter which would also come in handy around mating season, if he could entice them to stay around. His herd grew by the minute and he hardly had to work at it at all!
