The eldest, the ship aka the AI is the soul and brain of Andromeda, more analytical, precise. The Hologram is an extension of the AI. The avatar Rommie is yet another extension, the younger 'sister' and more open to new possibilities and experiences. She is more 'human' than her counterparts - the heart of Andromeda. She feels more, which is why when something goes wrong, the other two turn on her. It can be confusing, but yet the three are one - like identical triplets. Different but the same. Each has their own function, their own experiences. Rommie has been programmed [by Harper]to allow for a wider range of emotions that the other two cannot understand. It widens the gap between the three. To Dylan, without Rommie, there is no 'heart' to Andromeda - so therefore, Rommie IS Andromeda.
