Oh, I intend to give her and the show a chance, I said as much in my post. I'm just not very optimistic...buxom actresses in pink spandex tend to do that. I have no doubt it's not an easy thing to join an established cast and it's not so much the actress I'm worried about as what the writers will do with her. After all I've seen what they've done to the established characters from time to time.
Actually I was unaware at the time that she would be replacing Rommie's avater (however temporarily). To be honest I was kind of hoping she was replacing Trance (sorry Trance fans but her new look and attitude would have been cool had the writers had not gone overboard with her dialogue/monologues IMHO).
I will be watching the season premier with crossed fingers. Believe me, I'm pulling for her, it's the writers and producers I'm worried about. Seven of Nine on Voyager was intended to bring up the young male demographic, I'm worried that that's Doyle's purpose too. Seven turned out to be a good character (if badly dressed) so hopefully Doyle will as well. If they avoid the cliche's and stereotypes with her...we may be ok, that's my hope.
