(but i had seen him
drive this beautiful car
to the stripclub, and i
could not admire that)

"look at THIS
woman, for she,
child, is one
to admire," my
mother told me,
pointing to the smart
girl with the
incredible mind.
(but i had seen her
drown her incredible mind in
alcohol, and i
could not admire that)

"look at THESE
people, for they,
child, are to be
admired," my
parents told me,
pointing to the congregation
of the faithful whose
eyes were turned to God.
(but i had seen them
sin
just like me, and i
could not admire that)

"look at your
Self, for you,
young man, are
admirable indeed," i
thought to myself,
pointing to my
wisdom and
successful life.
(but i know myself
better
than anybody, and i
cannot admire me)
