I asked only because the only definition I was familiar with was molasses. The story is a direct allusion to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The Dormouse tells the story to Alice and she interrupts with many questions. It's in Chapter 7 (Mad Tea Party) and if you wish to read it go here or cut and paste the address below:
