I had a much better edited version of this, but Voy ate it. Voy should be happy that it chowed down on my poem. I hope its a placated as an alligator that just ate a cow.
Matt

Sandy haired boys
Walking through the backyard woods
Carrying
Old knotted boards
Hammers with broken handles
Rusty nails
Pulled from dilapidated structures. 7

Searching for the right tree
Tall Birches and Oaks surround them
But they pass them
Without second thoughts
They wane a tall pine
With many branches
Thick and strong. 14

There it is
Tall and majestic
Green needles
Spiking out from brown bark
Many footholds and handholds
And large thick branches
To climb with. 21

Slowly the boys climb
To the top
Towards the heavens
Grasping
Holding
Pulling themselves
To the top. 28

Slowly
They use their rusted nails
And broken hammers
To bind the warped wood
To the perfect branches
Using crude precision
To make a little fort. 35

Though it is simply
A piece of wood
Nailed to a tree
The boys see
A wonderful fortress
Where they can run to
And escape. 42
