I failed to alter your reality,
with the taste of me
on your lips.

The summer dies in the red glow of your eyes love,
each leaf fallen,
the call of farewell.

There's a cold breeze now
where once
your warmth filled my soul.

I wanted to give you beauty,
in the breath we shared,
I cared too much.

Autumn colors in my day,
taking your face away from me.

I loved you when the trees were all the shades of summer,
watching the bare limbs reach to a grey sky,
I realise why,
you never loved me back.

I turn my collar up,
wishing your body was pressed to my hip
like you always did.

I await Winter eagerly,
its rain hides the loss
of you from me.

Autumn makes me so sad love,
without you.
