Subject: The Damned Phoenix

From ashes arisen, a new being is born
Though soot still envelops he
Self-inflicted, burnt to the earth
From which he rises, reluctantly

A Phoenix must die to be reborn
Must destroy itself periodically
Giving up all to have something real
To purge one’s soul, necessity.

The time has come to quit this life
Arise anew; purified
But the ashes never leave the soul
A persisten reminder of why he died.

Reincarnated; still in this world
The inescapable purgatory
This suicidal bird of pain
The symbolic sign of misery

Ascending from a wasted life
To die again inevitably
I am a Phoenix trapped in the cycle
Rising to fall perpetually.
