Subject: Deborah's 21st Birthday Poem

Though today is not your Twenty First
for you turned twenty-one back in may
it is for this reason that we celebrate tonight
And wish you the best kind of birthday

It's been 21 years you've been on this earth
and though there has been many hardships
You're here today celebrating this moment
raising a double rum and coke to your lips

We first met in 1995, i believe it was science class
I'd seen you in class but never had we spoken
I'd heard a few rumors from people at school
but u sat next to me and the silence was broken

That day in science was the beginning of our friendship
One that almost 7 years on is still going strong
though we have grown into separate lives
we still call each other if something is wrong

I thank you for the friendship you have given
for it has helped me through so many years
I'd like to hope that i've done the same for you
and been the support when you've been close to tears

Deb, I hope and pray with every inch of my heart
that today and always you'll know i care
That in years down the track when we're old and gray
we'll look back and treasure this friendship we share

When we're sitting on the porch in many years time
with the grand children sitting alseep on our knee
Together we'll reflect over the years gone by
the laughter and friendship over a cup of tea

Happy 21st birthday to you my friend
may all your dreams come true
may you know what you mean to me
and how thankful i am to have a friend like you.
