so many things i wanted to say
fare thee well
godspeed
see you soon

the reality chokes my words

so many things i almost said
i love you
be safe
write each day

the future holds my tongue

our times are now the past
to look back upon
pages in a musty album

we all step out in opposite directions
my nonchalance forced forward
as i force back my tears

cling too tightly to what we had
and my mind will be squeezed dry
blink hard, and look ahead

we shall someday be strangers
connected for life
only by fading memories
