He then slides to a stop. He had caught something out of the corner of his eye and he stood, looking ahead, ears flicked back, nostrils flared, eyes wide. He turned his head in the direction of the rock and snorted nervously. He watched, feeling his animal of prey instincts that told him to run, but he also felt obligated to protect his herd. He snorted again, watching the rock, having a gut feeling that something was behind it...he waited.
