I was in the rugby club at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus! A fantastic collection of people from all the home nations assembled in a tin roofed shed that is any military rugby club! Day before had been the Army v RAF game and the hangovers were immense. I got a lift home from the aftermatch function with my CO in his staff car (top bloke from North Wales)My best mate is english and we agreed to have a two hour reverse truce ie I hated him for 2 hours and he hated me! I was also hosting the ref over for the inter service game. when gibbs went over I just looked around to see the the ref and my mate with their heads in their hands, crying like babies. All the Welsh, and Scots were bouncing around like bingo balls in that funny machine. I went to the bar and there was my CO, completely shitfaced. I went home about 2 hours later and put my welsh flag up over my bungalow! A Welsh enclave in Cyprus! Fantastic day! so I'm told!
