Typical reaction. The body wants a cig boost but can't get it so tries for sugar instead. Eat some toast, a muffin, Cherrios, rice, etc. Just a small amount will help. It's similar to a sugar crash - I get them all the time and keep "remedies" close at hand. Don't depend too much on gum, it helps but I found the sugarless candies worked better for one thing they free up your hands to develop other replacement habits - needlework, jigsaw puzzles, crossword, anything but smoking motions.
