Yep, car companies often seem to spend more money and time on concept cars than on cars that actually embody those concepts.

Still, there are some encouraging signs. Clean diesels are becoming available, hybrids are selling like crazy, people are selling conversion kits to turn hybrids into PHEV's, and sales of big SUV's are slowing. Hopefully these trends will continue.
