What you have there is a very condensed story. We'll expand it, add some tactile and visual and olfactory goodness, some metaphor and simile and story structure.

What you're doing there is building a brick house in miniature. We'll add some ledges and windows and pillars and landscaping.

Just crank it out as it pleases you. It will move through several drafts before we're finished, but what you lay out now as it goes will be the primary path.

What I'm working on now is a restructuring of a manuscript that I originally wrote ten years, ago. In moving from there to here, I've likened the process to cutting a swath through the jungle. Kind of like building a road. You fix your beginning, middle and end points, think about the sceneic overlooks that you'd like along the way, and slash. Then the earth moving equipment comes in. We blast our tunnels, pull in the fill, demuck the swamps, and build our fill to a solid base. Then we start the process of cutting to grade.

What you're doing now is blasting tunnels and cutting jungle. We'll deal with the fine work down the line. Just keep going, mate. No first draft ever sees print.

A couple of months from now, I should be done with the first draft of Godeater. Then I'll put it away for at least a month before I dig into it for revision. When I put it away, I'll take the map that you've hacked through the literary jungle and throw in my contribution. That will expand it, moisten the dry parts, and no doubt set the story off on paths that are yet to be explored.
