I have no problem with charts and graphs. I understand, that things were greatly different then. I understand their intentions, though, and while I might check out that book, simply because I love to read, I know why they said what they said.

Actually it was only property owners who could vote then. No renters, because I guess they figured people who owned property had a stake in the Country. I'm not sure even property owners do now, because if they get enough of the "great unwashed" to vote, your vote won't amount to an anthill in the Great Plains. Period.

Since the Democrats who choose to hand out all of the goodies to everybody are more interested in getting the "great unwashed", convicted felons, non-citizens, multiple votes for college students, to vote, because they know that those "great unwashed, et all" will vote for them, the system has become perverted. God, we even heard stories about getting handicapped people to vote (mentally handicapped, not physical) and the "social workers" had to be able to go into the booth to help them do it. Really. And whose vote is it? Does not the social worker then get to cast several votes?

The perversion becomes moot, however, when the rest of us finally decide that we have to get out there to vote. It hasn't happened yet, as just over 50% of the people vote in any election, but I suspect things will change in the near future, if anybody ever figures they can boot these career politicians out of Washington. I have voted AGAINST Liebermann and Dodd ever since the bills they had passsed concering the accounting professions ability to hold consulting contracts (multi-billion dollar consulting contracts) and still be considered "independent" auditors.

That is the single largest thing that has caused the current corporate scandals - hell, why would you issue a negative opinion on financial statements if you stood to lose those consulting contracts??? And they cry about Bush? Please.
