even $8,000 is a pretty good chunk of change for some people, but that's not the real cost of that curtain at all. No, the curtain has devalued America and our government in the eyes of the civilized world, I think. I can almost hear the mirthful remarks about "backward American cousins" and bigoted, self-righteous jackasses emanating from the halls of power across the sea.

How can we expect to be regarded as serious, and as grownups if we perpetrate such outrageous tomfoolery as this?
