Before attacking the issue, it needs to be determined that he actually has surpassed the powers of that office. They have made quite a leap in calling this current situation a war, but if they can make that stand, then I think it broadens the president's powers. The issue is whether or not this is a war. I think, by anybody's definition, it is not.

Anybody on this board is smarter than me so I'm looking for opinions from others whom I have come to respect. My tendency is to get hooked on my own rhetoric (just like Bush), but unlike him, I realize I could be wrong.

I think a song said, "...don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy." I think I will heed that advice.

I don't like the way Bush presumes to represent us in a singular fashion without apparent regard for alternatives or views. In my life, I have learned that such singular focus always spells trouble if for no other reason than the advantage it affords your adversaries! I'm reminded of a 2000 pound bull who is, inch for inch, more than a match for anyone. But, he doesn't have a gun.

I'm close to posting to my representative on this issue, and to the paper, but I need some no BS feedback. I don't want to think the concerns are justified just because I have them. Does that make sense?
